In the rolling greenery of the Cothi Valley, nestled in the Cambrian Mountains, The Dolaucothi Arms Pub has been offering a warm welcome to locals and travellers alike since the 16th century.

‘I entered the Inn of the Pump Saint. The people were kind and attentive, and set before me a homely but savoury supper, and a foaming tankard of ale….in a large chamber, I found an excellent and clean bed, in which I enjoyed a refreshing sleep.’

George Borrow, author of Wild Wales 1854

Very little has changed since the famous Victorian traveller George Borrow visited. The beds in our rooms are very comfortable and the warmth of welcome in our two bars and restaurants is the same – although we would like to think that the choice and quality of food and drink has improved!

But don’t take our word for it, some 30,000 visitors and readers of BBC Countryfile Magazine recently voted us the Best British Country Pub of the Year 2019Our beer garden has wonderful views over the valley and the rivers Cothi and Twrch to which the pub has fishing rights. The garden views are so wonderful, that they've been listed in Olive Magazine’s best 16 beer gardens in the country.

So, whether you are just passing through or planning to relax, fish, cycle or climb the mountains, you are sure of a friendly welcome from all at The Dolaucothi Arms – including our locals, staff, hens, our family of Pugs and even the rabbits.

We look forward to meeting you or welcoming you back!

We're very proud and so grateful to all the people who took the time to vote for us! A BIG Thank You!

We are thrilled to let you know that all the hard work done by cellar master Clare has led to formal recognition by CAMRA.
There are only 70 pubs in Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Cardigan that are included in the Good Beer Guide and we are proud to be one of them.

Locally, The Cottage Inn, Pentrefelin, The Royal Oak, Rhandirmyn and 2 in Lampeter and LLandeilo are also in.

We stopped here for a drink on our way back from Swansea. A very warm welcome and lovely comfy sofas in the bar. We will be returning for a special meal out in the near future.

Lovely setting, friendly atmosphere and very good food indeed, highly recommend. Good rates on the rooms and very close to the gold mines.
